Dr. David Scotton
Veterinarian, Founder
Dr. David Scotton is a highly skilled veterinarian and co-founder of Southeast Community Animal Hospital (SECAH). With over 20 years of experience, he has earned a reputation for his expertise in internal medicine, surgery, and ultrasonography. Known for his dedication and in-depth knowledge, Dr. Scotton is committed to delivering exceptional veterinary care.
Beyond his veterinary practice, Dr. Scotton contributes to the Southeast Gazette and engages in various personal hobbies, including metalworking, carpentry, and tinkering with tractors. His multifaceted skills and unwavering passion for animal care are integral to SECAH’s mission.
Together with his wife and co-founder, Dr. Scotton established SECAH to provide high-quality, compassionate care to pets in the community. He is dedicated to keeping the hospital at the forefront of veterinary medicine, ensuring it remains a trusted resource for pet owners.

Dr. Laurie Scotton
Veterinarian, Founder
Dr. Laurie Scotton is a dedicated veterinarian and co-founder of SECAH, where she combines her passion for animals, skill, and expertise to deliver exceptional care to her patients. Known for her compassionate approach, Dr. Scotton’s commitment to veterinary medicine extends beyond her professional responsibilities, as she actively participates in various humanitarian efforts within her community. Her love for animals and nature is evident in her personal interests, which include long walks with her dog, gardening, and reading—activities that reflect her dedication to maintaining a balanced and healthy lifestyle.
Dr. Scotton also has a deep appreciation for agriculture, with a particular fondness for cows and farming. She showcases her entrepreneurial spirit by selling meat on the side, further demonstrating her connection to the farming community. Dr. Scotton’s dedication to her work, diverse interests, and commitment to giving back make her a valuable asset to the SECAH team and a respected member of the veterinary field.
Dr. Rebecca Stewart
Relief Veterinarian
Dr. Rebecca Stewart is a highly skilled and dedicated veterinarian at SECAH, known for her extensive experience and expertise. With a deep passion for dachshunds and a special interest in dermatology, she is a valuable asset to the team, consistently delivering exceptional care to her patients.
Outside of her professional commitments, Dr. Stewart enjoys reading, traveling, and spending quality time with her family. Her adventurous spirit and love for exploring new places reflect her curious and open-minded nature. Dr. Stewart’s dedication to her work, coupled with her diverse interests, underscores her commitment to providing outstanding care to her patients and their families.
Dr. Alex Farris
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine
Southeast Community Animal Hospital is thrilled to introduce Dr. Alex Farris as the newest member of the veterinary team. Dr. Farris has been a dedicated part of the hospital since 2023, initially contributing her skills as a veterinary assistant for six months before seamlessly transitioning into her role as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. Her unwavering passion for animals and commitment to their well-being are evident in everything she does, making her an invaluable addition to the practice.
Outside of her veterinary career, Dr. Farris finds joy in life’s simple pleasures. She enjoys painting, spending time outdoors, tending to her beloved plants, and cherishing moments with her family. Accompanied by her furry companion, Paris the Frenchie, Dr. Farris deeply understands the bond between pets and their families, which further enriches her connection with her patients and their owners.

Our Staff
Amanda, Practice Manager
Amanda has been a dedicated member of our animal hospital since 2002, showcasing her strong work ethic and passion for her job throughout her career. She began her journey as a kennel assistant and, through hard work and commitment, advanced to the role of receptionist. In recognition of her dedication, Amanda was promoted to SECAH Practice Manager in September 2022.
Outside of work, Amanda enjoys spending quality time with her husband and engaging in various leisure activities. She is an avid golfer, a dedicated reader, and enjoys bird watching, as well as taking time to rest and recharge. Amanda is also a proud pet parent to her dog, Sam, and her “old man” cat, Tiger. Her compassion for her pets reflects her caring nature and her commitment to providing the best care for all animals.
Amanda’s experience, knowledge, and dedication make her a valuable member of our team. We are proud to have her as our Practice Manager and look forward to her continued growth and success in this role. Her contributions are invaluable, and we know she will remain a key asset to the hospital for many years to come.
Marie, RVT
Outside of work, Marie is a devoted parent to two children and enjoys spending time with them at baseball games, cheer practices, and dance lessons. She is also a proud pet parent to her two dogs, Xena and Bruno, and deeply values the joy that animals bring to her life. With her compassionate nature and passion for her work, Marie continues to be a dedicated and essential member of the team.
Cindy, Housekeeping Supervisor
Cindy has been a valued member of the animal hospital team since 2003, bringing extensive experience and knowledge that make her an invaluable asset. In her personal life, Cindy is a proud pet parent to four cats: Koko, Pixie, Peachy Paws, and Nicholas. Her deep love for all animals and commitment to caring for God’s creation shines through in everything she does. Outside of work, Cindy enjoys reading, pet sitting, teaching at the Greensboro Science Center, and attending church services.
Cindy’s passion for animal care, love of reading and education, and dedication to her faith make her a well-rounded and cherished member of the team. The hospital is grateful to have her as part of the SECAH family.
Michael, Kennel Assistant
Michael has been a dedicated and hardworking member of the animal hospital team since 2013. As a kennel assistant, he plays a crucial role in ensuring the care and well-being of the animals in the hospital. In his free time, Michael enjoys spending quality time with his wife and practicing karate, his favorite activity.
A proud pet parent to a dog named Elle, Michael takes his responsibilities as a pet owner very seriously. His love and care for his own pet are reflected in his commitment to providing the best care for the animals at the hospital. Michael’s strong work ethic and dedication to his job make him an invaluable member of the team, and his contributions to the hospital are greatly appreciated.

Dylan, Lead Veterinary Assistant
Dylan has been a dedicated member of the animal hospital team since 2013. As the lead assistant, she has demonstrated a strong passion for animal care and an unwavering drive to succeed, making her an invaluable part of the team.
Outside of work, Dylan is a proud pet parent to three pit bulls — Chaos, Terd, and Kya — and one cat, Diva. An animal lover at heart, she cherishes the time spent with her furry companions. In her free time, Dylan enjoys spending time with her husband, participating in outdoor adventures like kayaking and hiking, relaxing with her pets while watching Netflix, listening to music, and exploring new trails.
With her commitment to animal care and her love for nature and her pets, Dylan is a valuable asset to the team. Her dedication and passion make her an integral part of the hospital, and her colleagues look forward to many more years of working together.
Jessica, Veterinary Assistant
Jessica joined our team at the animal hospital in 2023 and has already made a significant impact with her strong work ethic and passion for animal care. She has quickly proven to be an excellent fit and a valuable asset to our team.
Outside of work, Jessica is a devoted pet parent to Bo and Tito. Her love for animals extends far beyond her own pets — she actively volunteers in wildlife rehabilitation and is passionate about fish keeping and bird watching. Currently pursuing a degree in biology with plans to attend veterinary school, Jessica is deeply committed to animal care and driven to make a meaningful difference in the lives of animals.

Maria, Veterinary Assistant
Maria has been a dedicated member of the animal hospital team, serving as a Veterinary Assistant since 2021. Known for her passion for animals and compassionate nature, she consistently provides exceptional care to the patients under her supervision.
Outside of work, Maria is eagerly preparing for one of the most exciting milestones of her life: welcoming her first child. Filled with joy and anticipation, she looks forward to this new chapter. In her free time, she enjoys spending quality moments with her husband and actively participating in her church community.

Jordan, RVT
Jordan joined the SECAH team in 2022 and has quickly become a valuable member. Having recently graduated from the registered veterinary technician program, Jordan is on the verge of becoming a licensed RVT. The team is thrilled about Jordan’s achievements and is enthusiastic to have her as a SECAH RVT.
As a local resident, Jordan has a deep connection to the community and a genuine passion for animal care. She is a proud pet parent to Phoebe, her cat, and Sadie, her dog, and enjoys spending time with her furry companions. In her free time, Jordan loves socializing with friends and family and cherishing her personal relationships.
Jordan’s commitment to her education and her fervor for animal care make her an excellent addition to the team. SECAH is excited to witness her growth and development as she advances in her career with the organization.
Lakiya, Veterinary Assistant
With an undergraduate degree in Animal Science with a concentration in the animal industry, Lakiya is currently pursuing a master’s degree at NC A&T State University, proudly representing AGGIE PRIDE. Her unwavering aspiration is to attend veterinary school and obtain her DVM degree, with the goal of making a meaningful impact in the field of veterinary medicine.
Outside of her professional ambitions, Lakiya enjoys various activities, including hitting the gym, spending quality time with friends and loved ones, indulging in retail therapy, and exploring new destinations. Her love for animals extends to her cherished fur companions, including her cat Milo and her fur son Bentley.

Al, Veterinary Assistant
Outside of work, Al is a proud pet parent to Kodallo the dog and three cats named Petri, Nosferatu, and Leary. Her passion for animals extends into her personal life, where she enjoys engaging in various activities with her pets. In her free time, Al loves creating art, especially sculptural pieces, roller skating, and trick training with Kodallo. She also cherishes spending quality time with her partner.

Dianna, Receptionist
Beyond her professional achievements, Dianna has a passion for travel and the great outdoors. She enjoys hiking and exploring new places, and she takes pride in her two bachelor’s degrees from UNCG. Her love for adventure and her strong academic background make her a well-rounded individual and a valuable asset to the team.
